Guitar Repair Technician 201 (GRT201)

Continue your journey into professional-grade guitar repair with GRT201—an intensive, hands-on, two-day (15-hour) course offered only once or twice a year at select locations. Building on the foundational skills acquired in GRT101, this class takes you deeper into the intricate art of fretwork, nut and saddle fabrication, and the refinement techniques that distinguish a skilled technician from a true expert.

Day One focuses on fret levelling, crowning, and polishing methods, along with precise fret-end dressing to eliminate fret sprout and ensure a consistently smooth, comfortable playing experience. By mastering these critical steps, you’ll not only improve an instrument’s playability, but also elevate its value and longevity.

On Day Two, you’ll turn your attention to crafting custom nuts and saddles. From choosing the right materials to shaping and cutting with precision, you’ll develop the techniques necessary to meet a wide range of player preferences and instrument specifications. Small class sizes and direct, professional mentorship ensure a productive, interactive learning environment, setting the stage for more advanced projects in GRT301 and beyond.

By the end of GRT201, you’ll possess the intermediate-level skills that set you apart in the world of guitar repair, along with a Certificate of Completion to showcase your accomplishments.

With GRT201 completed, you’ll have honed your intermediate-level repair techniques, readying you for the advanced challenges and custom work of GRT301.
